Go .9 mile and turn right on All Elks Road. Go 1.4 miles and take the left fork at Annie’s Road. Proceed another mile to the camp. Note: This Gladiator Challenge requires quite a bit of preparation. Please read the attached guide. Scouts are encouraged to sign up for this camporee this weekend or at a minimum respond to this email so that we may add you to the list. Even if you aren't going to the camporee please come help the Troop build its Chariots. We will have materials available and instruction. 1. Look through your sheds/garages to make this a success we need between 12 and 16 inch bicycle wheels/2 per chariot/current plan to build two chariots. 2. Additionally, we need adult volunteers a. Sign up to stay with the scouts throughout the jamboree (if you can commit to one evening or both evenings; any time appreciated. We know so we can ensure we have adequate supervision. Camporee's are a perfect environment for parents to volunteer because they are not high adventure and are in a camp setting. Please respond to this email if you can help. b. We will need drivers as this camp is 48 miles from Eagle River approximately a 50 minute drive each way. Troop Trivia: Twenty percent of Troop 219 scouts working on Eagle Projects. Why is this fact important? Need old and new parents of current scouts to prepare to lead by becoming involved in the Troop Committee and more importantly as Assistant Scout Masters (ASMs). Training provided by the council and the troop. As Eagle's go on to college or finish out high school their parents move on in many cases. We are very lucky to have some gentlemen like Mr. McGimsey, Mr. Wilder, Mr. Foster, Mr. Duft, and Mr. Puterbaugh who have remained with the troop in some capacity years after their son's have eagled out (this is not typical). However, I urge both mom's and dad's to consider how they can help. Although the troop is "Boy" led, we need parents to help with planning and supporting the execution of all of our activities. Contact Ms. Rivera-Murray at 907.748.4350 or respond [email protected] for questions about becoming a committee member and/or merit badge counselor, participating in Board of Reviews for rank advancement. Contact Mr. Lundgren at 907.696.3786 to receive more information regarding the Assistant Scout Master Role Please call if you have any questions about our Troop or Scouting (if I don't know the answer I will direct you to someone who will) YIS Lou Rivera-Murray Troop 219 Committee Chair 907.748.4350
