This year our boys will be attending camp at Denali High Adventure Scout Base.
About Denali High Adventure Scout Base (DHASB). DHASB is Alaska's newest camp that offers a rustic Scouting experience. Denali is located in the shadow of Mt. Mckinley, North America's tallest peak. We offer Backpacking, River, and cycling adventures in addition to traditional summer camp programs. DHASB is at the cutting edge of BSA programing... literally. The National Council of the Boy Scouts of America is exploring pistols as a program element for Boy Scout aged youth. In the past pistols had only been approved for youth registered as Venturing Scouts. Great Alaska Council has been approved as a council for this program and will be offering pistol instruction and shooting as a part of the program at Denali. In addition to that we will be offering a first year camper program, troop based cooking, and experiences that you won't be able to find at our other camps such as blacksmithing, blackpowder shotgun, and mountain man programs. The ASM in charge of camp this year is Mr. Carl Lundgren, [email protected], phone 907-696-3786. We need Parent Volunteers to Camp also: Please contact Mr. Lundgren. If you can do one day or a whole week any time is very much appreciated. Camp costs for scout is $365 for "early bird" and $180 for adult campers. Transportation will be extra similar to last year as the scouts will be transported via bus. Camp Dates: 11-16 July 2016 BSA Scout Physical Required: Troop contact Mrs. Brandi Estes ([email protected]; 907-205-0706): She will send specific emails about requirement. Most important part of this email is that 50% of the camp fees d must be paid by 29 February. Mr. Puterbaugh will have sign ups for camp and please talk to Mrs. Juliann Nevells, 907-441-8817 (Troop Treasurer if this money is coming by check or scout account). If there are any issues regarding payment please talk to our Scoutmaster, Mr. Puterbaugh, 907. 351-8826 (confidentiality maintained) as soon as you are able; there maybe partial camper-ships on a case by case basis, available to facilitate costs. The link below will give you information, but please do not register at this time. We typically do that as a troop and will provide you with further instructions https://scoutingevent.com/?OrgKey=BSA610&eventID=4879 Please call the points of contact listed; Your always welcome to also call or email me if you have questions or concerns.
