The Adventures of 219 |
On May 27, 2018 Troop 219 went to the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s cemetery to honor the fallen soldiers who have died in battle or from natural causes by placing one U.S. flag at each headstone. By the end of our time there we had placed 3000 out of 4527 flags; the remainder were placed by another troop and Cub Scout pack. In addition to the Scouts, there were four members from the U.S. Coast Guards there to help us pay tribute to those who had come before. Every time they placed a flag they would salute the headstone. As we were placing flags we saw three bald eagles flying overhead which was very symbolic due to their symbolism and inspirational meaning linked to this amazing nation.
