The Adventures of 219 |
On June 25-July 1, 2017 our troop attended scout camp at Camp Gorsuch. Twenty-two scouts from our troop attended the weeklong camp. All 13 new scouts attended the camp and they had a memorable experience. All scouts had merit badges to accomplish over the whole week from first-aid to riflery. In the end, all scouts learned and brought something home to their families whether it’s stories or knowledge of being prepared. And the Parents got a break from their children as an added bonus.
On May 28, 2017 fourteen boys from Troop 219 set out with numerous other adults and troops. The day was very special to many people with a day of remembrance and respect placing flags at the graves of fallen soldiers and their families at the Ft. Richardson National Cemetery at JBER. The event lasted an hour and around 5000 flags were placed. The day was over cast and misting but respect and honor don’t wait for good weather.
On June 3, 2017 NRA sport fest shootout was a fun and hands on event for many scouts from our troop and other kids as well. Every body carried smiles after the thrill of shooting a machine gun or muzzleloader while also using safe gun handling procedures. Overall the scouts came home after a beautiful day of shooting firearms and keeping the tradition alive and making memories remembered forever.
