The Adventures of 219 |
On October 20-22, 2017 21 scouts and parents attended a hike up to Crescent Lake. Several of the new scouts attended this hike. We hiked a total of 14 miles roughly with an added 3 miles and it overall took us around 3 hours in and 3 out. It had snowed while we camped there and it was a little brisk but we all survived and lived to tell stories. Some activities we did were get firewood, make benches, and gauge a river. On the way out we had a long drive home and a fresh burger at the local roadhouse.
On May 21, 2017 for our meeting around twenty scouts attended a hike up Mt. Baldy. Many new scouts attended this hike. We hiked around two hours and the event turned out to be adventurous with snow in many areas but all that attended had a great time. The day was over cast and raining but none the less we didn’t reach the summit but the experience was worth it to get outside and explore the unknown around you.
Eighteen scouts and six adults hiked the 1.5 mile round trip from Skyline Road to the peak of Mile High on Sunday, August 28th, 2016. The day was bright, sunny and warm. The scouts from Troop 219 had a short meeting at Joy Lutheran Church, followed by the hike straight up to the Mile High Peak. The entire hike took 1.5 hours. After the hike was complete, all scouts and adults returned to Joy Lutheran Church to finish the meeting and return home.
Ten scouts from Troop 219 hiked to the top of Mount Baldy on July 27th, 2016. All the scouts had a lot of fun during the 1 ½ hr. hike to the summit. As you can see by the picture the day was raining and overcast. This activity was done in place of a meeting.
