This is Lou Rivera-Murray your troop event coordinator. I just received the Boy Scout Council Events letter which I will forward in a few days but I am highlighting 2 which have fast approaching deadlines. Our family has chosen to participate in both events and we would ask you to join us so I am also Volunteering to administer this event.
I spoke with Mr. Puterbaugh and he asked that I forward this email. To be considered a Scout event we need a minimum of 15 participants and I am supplying 2 of those participants.
I have a deadline to order and purchase tickets for each event. I will pay for the event in advance and am willing to work details with families and will accept checks/cash. I must make one order and payment which I will do on my credit cards so once I have a list even if you cancel I will need to collect the money. Request Troop 219 represents well and wears class A uniform. If any ASM attend I ask that you also wear your uniform.
9 April 2015 Boy Scout Night at World Tour Harlem Globetrotters @ 7 pm at the Alaska Airlines Center Tickets are $19 (back end zone for scout, family,friends) *Free Harlem Globetrotter Patch for Scouts. I must order tickets NLT than 3 April.
10 April 2015 Boy Scout Night at Alaska Aces Game vs. Ontario @ 7:15 on dry side, center balcony at the Sullivan Arena. Tickets are $12 (for scout and family, friends, grandparents etc.)*Free Aces Scout Patch. I must order tickets NLT than 7 April.
I will have sign up sheets at this Sunday's meeting, however most boys attending are working on their rockets so we haven't had normal attendance. In addition please respond to this email with your name, scout's name, number of tickets, and your contact phone number. I will be available at the church on both days to hand out tickets at 5:15-6:00. This allows us to carpool if need be. Please be advised that due to nature of parking and travel we will leave the church NLT than 6:00 pm.

My name is Lou Rivera-Murray and I have volunteered to be the Troop 219 Event Coordinator. As the event coordinator my hope is to be able to keep parents and scouts informed on all scout opportunities available to our Troop. I will periodically send you "Save the Date" emails. In these emails you will find information about events you and your scout can participate in and you may also find out information about Merit Badges the troop is working toward. I am not the point of contact for any of these events. We have multiple events that require a volunteer parent/scout to coordinate these items for the troop. I have attached a zip file with information about the upcoming events that require a troop coordinator. These items are highlighted in yellow. This is a new position so I will be learning with you. Our Troop Committee is planning on including events on a google calendar and or website. Until then my hope is to keep parents informed ahead of time. As this is the first Save the Date you will notice a lot of short notice events...as I continue this process together we will be able to push the calendar out further. Additionally, with enthusiastic volunteers we will be able to participate in a variety of events to keep all of our young men participating. As you can see there are events that will interest different young men; with a parent coordinator any of these are possible.

20-22 March Aleyeska Ski Trip (Scouts working on their Ski and Snow Sport MB complete requirements 1-4 prior to attending/6pm Friday-11 am Sun)
1 Apr Registration for 6 June NRA Youth Day
Rocket Lockin 3-4 Apr (7PM Fri overnight at church/Rendezvous at Joy Lutheran Church (JLC) at 9:00 am on Sat to Big Lake or Knik for Launch)
Scouting for Food @ location (TBD)
Apr 3-5 Great volunteer opportunity at the Tebughna Foundation’s Ida’Ina Friendship Gathering at the Alaska Dome! For those of you who participated in the 2015 Freezoree, this is a great chance to give back to the Native community and show your appreciation for their generosity in donating the use of the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Jim Stevens at JStevens@SouthcentralFoundation.org or (907) 729-5202. The event goes from noon-9pm on Scouts will help monitor doors to keep too much air from escaping and help keep food and drinks off the turf. Any scout that volunteers for two shifts would meet the service hours requirement for the Citizenship in the Community merit badge!

Troop Event Coordinators can be mom's or dad's who are willing to take administrative charge of an activity. This may mean ensuring tickets are purchased, scouts are registered for events, etc. If you are interested in coordinating a specific event please let me know. We have a tremendous amount of parents, our Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters who can answer your questions and facilitate the planning. Suggestions and volunteers welcome!
