Hope each and everyone is enjoying the holiday season. We have 4 days and a wake up until Troop 219 Christmas CoH. The scouts will receive a gift from the Troop Sunday. If the scouts want to participate in an additional gift exchange we ask each scout and or sibling wishing to participate bring a wrapped gift not to exceed $20 to the party; only those bringing gifts will be allowed to exchange gifts (siblings may participate). In addition the Troop will raffle a 22 caliber rifle and ammo during the party. The raffle tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $25. Tickets will be sold at the event. Each year we ask families to bring 3 hams and 3 turkeys to our dinner in addition to this we ask all families bring a side and desert to share with everyone. I have only heard from 10 families who are attending. I expect this will be no different than other years with an average attendance of over 100 people. Please let me know if your family is able to help with a ham or turkey. I need 4 families to volunteer to bring (2 ham and 2 turkey). Mr. Puterbaugh and I will bring a ham and turkey respectively. Respond to this email. The United Methodist Church of Chugiak has been very kind to provide our venue this year at no cost. To create a festive environment I need volunteers for Set Up beginning at 11:00 am and for Clean up to be available at the end of the event. Important Note: Set up Crew arrives at the same time as Sunday Service. All Troop 219 personnel must use the lower parking lot. At 1:00pm only lower door will be open Finally, if you have any pictures you would like to have considered for inclusion in our annual Troop Year in Review please send them to me email or I will send you a link to place the pictures in Dropbox. I would like to receive pictures from all of our eagle candidates/scouts showing their project and those who helped. I will accept pictures through Thursday 7 Dec. Who: Scouts, Parents, Scouters WHAT: Christmas CoH Where: United Methodist Church of Chugiak, 16430 Old Glenn Hwy When: Sunday, 10 Dec Please wear your class A uniform with a sash. Reminder tomorrow 5:30 (6-8)pm Scout Court of Honor. Uniform Class A with Sash. This will be at Joy Lutheran Church. In order to make this flow smoothly the grill will be available at 5:30 and we will start eating promptly at 6:00. Some Scouts as a part of their cooking merit badge requirements will be providing cast iron Chili, and a variety of desserts. Families Please bring what you are going to grill, your family's drinks and a side or two to share with everyone. Because Monday is a school night we want to do our best to end by 8. Be ready to eat promptly at 6. I am sure your SPL would appreciate help setting up tables and chairs. The church will open at 5:00 for those interested in helping with set up. YIS Lou Rivera-Murray 907.748.4350 Hi Scouts and Families
No meeting Sunday 20 August. We want all of you to be well rested and prepared for your first day of School Attention all Scouts: Any scout needing a Scoutmaster Conference for Rank Advancement please text or call Mr. Puterbaugh at 351-8826 No Later Than Monday. Sunday 27 August we will be having our Troop 219 Court of Honor. The event will take place at Joy Lutheran, 6-8pm. Uniform for scouts is Class A with sash (for those who have sashes). We will start in the meeting hall for a potluck style dinner and then proceed to the JLC sanctuary for the formal part of the ceremony. Absolutely this is one of our year's highlights. This past week I along with 7 parents conducted two simultaneous Boards of Review to look at advancing scout's progress. We had 9 new scouts meet the board and we have 9 new Tenderfoot Scouts. I am told that Steve has met with several more boys since then and we are looking at the next Board of Review to be 24 Aug at the JLC from 6-8 pm. Scouts will have appointed times and will meet with 3 to 4 adults to answer questions so that we may ascertain if the scouts are ready to advance. Our new scouts are reflective, intuitive, bright, conversational and funny. They tell us they are enjoying their experiences thus far. I can tell you we have a group of nice, responsible, capable, young men in Troop 219 and I am so proud of our Scouts and look forward to the positive impact all of you will have with one another. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I prefer text or phone calls at 748-4350. YIS Lou Rivera-Murray 907.748.4350 |
