Scouts & Parents,
Service project tonight (Friday)...JLC at 6:00 PM
Troop Hike this Sunday for ALL Scouts...meet 630 pm at JLC to get started. Sam Strickland SPL will take lead. Class B & dress for the weather. We will need ASMs & the Chilkoot crew to hike for SURE...and scout parents to caravan up Skyline. "New Scout Parents" will be attending Parents meeting at JLC during this time.
New Parents - This coming Sunday, May 21 there will be a new parent meeting from 6:45 - 8:30pm. Once we have all of our new scouts in the troop, we like to have a meeting with the parents to discuss the organization of the troop, how the troop is run, overall expectations and answer any questions you may have. It’s also an opportunity to discuss how you can be involved with the troop and help your scout.
We will also review the BSA Handbook and the Troop 219 Handbook...bring with you. If you do not have the Troop 219 handbook please let me know ASAP.
P. S. If you would like to add another email to this list, let me know.

Scouts – Tonight there will be a sign up list for the 2017 Chilkoot trail trip. Please discuss with your parents if you are interested.
Dear Troop – To follow up on Sunday’s Chilkoot trail announcement, I’ve attached information on our proposed 2017 trip. Dates have not yet been finalized but we are looking at a 10-day block in late June and early July. (This includes four days of driving, one transition day and five days on the trail.) Because of the planning involved, sign-ups will close October 16th and the first payment will be due December 1st. Mr. Estes and I will lead the trip.
More details will be forthcoming once we have an idea of the number of scouts interested.
Hello Troop Adults,
We need your help!! There are currently 5 adults and 5 scouts who need a ride to the Girdwood trail head in Girdwood and from the Eagle River Nature Center after a grueling 26 mile hike over the Chugiak Mountain range. Currently we have only one driver with 4 seats, and in need of a few more cars. If we do not have drivers then this trip will need to be cancelled….. :(
We will be meeting at the Church at 6 AM on Saturday 25 June, with the goal of arriving at the trail head at 7.30. The hike takes anywhere from 10 - 14 hours (24-26 miles) which puts us arriving at the Eagle River Nature Center around 5 - 6 PM. Cell phone signal is sketchy out there so we'll figure out more as the time arrives.
As most are aware, the Crow Pass Trail (Adventure Hike) is open to the older scouts whom have already earned the Hiking MB and whom have proven their abilities to hike extended miles over one day. For those younger scouts who are chomping at the bite to hike this trail… your time will come :) keeping, hiking and active in the outdoors and you'll be hiking these grand trails soon enough.
Thank you for your willingness to volunteer your time on a Saturday
Please email me (or call in the PM). I can provide you with additional information regarding trail head, etc.
